For this look, I styled my Time and True High Rise Jeans and Prive Revaux Sunglasses with a salmon colored button up blouse and nude heels. I wanted to mix casual w/ stylish, so the accessories added a nice touch for me. These jeans are really comfortable and stretchy and I like the slight edginess given by the rips.

It Pays To Feel Good: Giving Yourself A Fashion Treat At The End Of The Month

It seems that these days we are not always able to give ourselves that little treat, but it's something we have to do- it makes us feel good! Maybe we don't have the budget to afford high-end brands every week, but surely we must take advantage of our paycheck at the end of the month and have a mini splurge on something that makes us feel a little bit better? Here are some ideas to give yourself a fashion treat.

“It's Been A Hard Month!”

If it's been a particularly difficult month, with emotional highs and lows, give yourself that treat you've been wanting for so long. Of course, maybe you don't have the money for that Mulberry handbag but you could go for the purse instead? If you've had a hard month, and you need that little something to keep you “clutching on”, then maybe a clutch bag will give you that bit of happiness.

“I Want To Feel Good About Myself Again”

If you are feeling particularly low, and you want to feel good about yourself again, then maybe it's time to look in the mirror and see what can be fixed. Now, we're not talking about plastic surgery, but instead, why don't you go for one of the many beauty subscription boxes available out there? The cheapest boxes come with shampoo and conditioner, or if you want to go to the more expensive ones, the Cohorted box gives you plenty of lipstick, eyeshadow, and make-up. These beauty subscription boxes are a monthly payment, meaning your end of the month treat can be every month!

“Give Me Some Sparkle!”

If we just need some sparkle in our lives, then we can go for a little something that adds that extra shine. It doesn't have to be a change from head to toe; you can click here for some earrings that add a bit of dazzle to any modest look. Or if you're looking to make that definitive statement, some sparkly heels can make you feel better and give you a spring in your step. A bit of bling is always what the doctor recommends!

“Let's Hit The Town”

You've had a bad month, you've had so much stress, and you want to just hit the town and forget about it all. Depending on your taste, you can go for a cocktail dress if you want to head to the upmarket or demure occasions, or head straight to the shoe shop and get those stilettos so you can hit the clubs! When Saturday night comes around, we can throw off the shackles of the working week, and the difficult month, by hitting the town with our girlfriends and making the most of the night.

We all have times when we look back on the month and think, "I can't believe I survived that!" If you can't wait for the end of January to come around, then think about what you're going to spend with that delicious paycheck.

Accessorize Like A Pro

One of the best ways that you can transform any outfit is with some jewelry. The right combination can help to add the finishing touches to any well-thought-out attire, but you need to know what you are doing. Though I can’t pretend to have all the answers here,  I can give you some useful and easy to follow advice that you can put into practice yourself.

Jewelry Should Add Value to Your Outfit

Two of the most common jewelry sins you can commit are over-accessorizing and under-accessorizing. If you wear too many items, this will detract from the ones that you want to draw attention to. Wear too few and they won’t stand out. Also, you should avoid wearing the same items day after day as you have not selected them to specifically complement your outfit.

One way to tackle this issue is with Swarovski as they have amazing and unique pieces that will help you avoid over-accessorizing, but will give your outfit that extra push it needs to stand out.

Consider Your Facial and Body Features

When you are buying jewelry, you need to consider how it is going to match up with your facial features as well as your outfits. For example, if you want to draw attention to your ears, you can do long, dangling earrings. However, some simple studs are a more subtle approach, and when you are buying items to be worn on the rest of your body such as necklaces and bracelets, you should also think about the lengthening/shortening effect that each one of them has.

Complement Your Skin Tone As Well

The final main consideration which you need to make when you are accessorizing jewelry is making it work with your skin tone. Ultimately, the best way to work out which metals look best for you is by trying on a number of different pieces and comparing and contrasting. If you have cool and pale skin, you may want to try some warming tones such as gold, whereas the opposite tends to be true for people with darker skin tones, so opt for a cooling color such as silver.

Accessorizing with jewelry is something which takes a bit of practice, but once you become good at it, you can really transform the look and style of any outfit which you put on.

Need Some Fashion Inspiration? The Style Ideas To Consider

Sometimes we can all get ourselves into a fashion rut. Not sure what to wear from one day to the next, or even how you want to go about season changes. We can all be at that point where we stare into the wardrobe and feel like you have nothing to wear. Often, we can be bombarded with too many choices, which in some ways can hinder our chances of making the right outf

So what do you do if you need some fashion inspiration? Look through magazines endlessly and feel the need to buy yet more clothes? Perhaps! Maybe you look for hours on Pinterest about seasonal offerings and how you may wear them. Maybe! But what you can do is try and mix things up a little and certainly step out of your comfort zone once more. I wanted to share with you some of the inspirational fashion style ideas that you could consider if you find yourself in a rut when it comes to your clothing and sense of style. I hope it enables you to feel revitalized by your fashion choices and have the confidence to step out with pride once more.

A capsule wardrobe

Let’s be honest, you don’t need to have a lot of clothes in your wardrobe to be stylish. Making key choices and investing in pieces of clothing that you can mix and match, can often be a great financial and style decision. What it does do, is eliminate the amount of choice you have. A capsule wardrobe means that different items of clothing can be put together to create numerous different outfit options. Less cost and more style, what isn’t to love? So how do you go about creating one? It is simple as choosing key pieces. Top halves bottom halves and accessories, that are a mix of colors and fabrics that can be mixed together perfectly. Thankfully, websites like Pinterest are a wash with capsule wardrobe inspiration. Some people use this principle for all aspects of their wardrobe. For example, having a capsule wardrobe for work attire, going out socially, events and even informal wear. It takes the pressure away and enables you to feel confident with your choices.

Injecting color into your clothing choices

Color is a great way to feel more inspired with your clothing choices. Perhaps you want to consider adding some seasonal colors into the mix when things start to change. For example, yellows and pinks in the summer and burgundy and mustard tones in autumn. Not that you want to be stereotypical. Color can be worn at any time of the year, winter is the ideal time for a bright red, if you wanted. It can be the perfect solution to really inspire you with different fashion choices. Perhaps a shirt would be you go to thing, but changing the color from something you would usually go for makes a familiar item of clothing feel different on you. Color can also really help you increase your confidence, as you find different tones that work well with your skin tone and even your hair or eye colors. If you are unsure on what types of colors would suit you, there are some great guides online to help you distinguish what might work well with the way you look.

Revamp some of your older items

At whatever time of year, especially at a season change, you may find that you struggle more with your current clothing situation. However, you may find that some of those items don’t quite fit the same or look as good as they once did. But don’t be dismayed, this is where you can get a little creative with your fashion choices and feel inspired once more. It doesn’t cost much to reinvent those much-loved items. Perhaps cutting trousers into funky shorts in the summer. Adding some motifs or design elements to t-shirts or jackets. You could even cut sleeves tops and make them look more funky. There are some amazing ideas on Pinterest, and this website can be a great source for things like this.

Adding different accessories to mix things up

Accessories are a great way to change the way an outfit looks. One method is to use hats, which are great at any time of year. Summer hats in the heat of the day, winter hats when it gets too cold. Or even something more sophisticated can dramatically change the way an outfit looks. But it isn’t just hats, there are other things you can use like statement necklaces or earrings. Perhaps being more adventurous than you would normally. Why not try something new or just slowly start changing things up a little?

Going all “matchy matchy” with your other half

Sometimes it's worth taking some inspiration from your partner. Maybe even matching or coordinating your outfits in some way. Perhaps starting with matching accessories like gold chains designed by Frost Nyc or taking things on a different level and coordinating with the colors your wear. You have all seen it at things like weddings, where a man is wearing a tie in the same color as their partners dress. But sometimes just taking inspiration, for example if your partner is particularly smart with their appearance, take a leaf out of their book and try it yourself. You may find a new way of dressing and revamping your wardrobe in the process.

Put more focus on the shoes you wear

Shoes are by far one of the easiest ways you can change the way an outfit feels and looks. A pair of jeans teamed with a normal top can be casual one minute and then be completely changed the next by simply changing the shoes you are wearing. Focusing on this side of things alone can help you to start feeling better about the clothes you are wearing. If you always seem to wear one sort of style of shoe, change things up a little. Why not try a different style of shoe for a change and see the difference it could make in regards to how you look but also more importantly how you feel in the clothes you wear.

Clear out the clutter in your wardrobe

Often we can get ourselves into a rut of feeling drab just by looking in our wardrobe and not being able to see past the clutter. Are you one of those people that keep items of clothing just in case? We discussed earlier about having too much choice. Maybe you are one of those people who are hoping to fit back into a particular item of clothing one day or something you think will be trendy again once more? If you haven't worn something in over a year what makes you think you ever will? Is it time to ditch the clutter? Perhaps really look at what you have in your wardrobe and make some tough decisions. You may find that you feel far more inspired with less to choose from.

Dressing for your figure and body shape

Finally, dressing for your body shape and figure can make a huge difference. Not only to how you look in the clothes you are wearing, but it can definitely make an impact on how you feel and your confidence levels. Sometimes you need some guidance on this, and thankfully there are some great tips online to help you distinguish the type of cuts, fabrics and shapes of clothing that are ideal for your own body shape. Often just making this change alone can drastically change the way you approach your shopping and how you dress daily. Feeling more comforable in your own skin.

I hope that these tips help you gain some more fashion inspiration and change up your style. Often just gaining some new ideas is the only inspiration you need.

Arm Candy: Style Advice For Your Significant Other

Many women find themselves in a tricky situation at some point in their life. Let’s see if some of this sounds similar to anything you have experienced.

After all, you love your significant other for everything they are. Your relationship is good, you feel like it’s built to last, and you’re genuinely good for one another. You have managed to deal with each other’s annoying habits and it looks like you’re going to stand the test of time.

The only downside? You’re stylish, you’re fashion-conscious, and you know how to put an outfit together even if you’re sleep-deprived and in a rush.

And your partner? He’s… well… he’s rather challenged in that department. That seems to be about the best way of putting it!

While your partner should always be the one who decides on his style ultimately, there’s nothing wrong with giving a few pointers and showing what he might be doing wrong. While you might have the grooming and style down when it comes to your own appearance, that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re fully up-to-date when it comes to men’s hair styles and what should be finding a place in your boyfriend's wardrobe. So you can help him, run your eye over the following pointers, and you might both find a whole new him that completes the picture of your perfect romance.

#1 - Manscaping

We’ve all heard the word, but what is manscaping and how does it concern your boyfriend?

The term is pretty simple. It means how a man grooms himself, predominantly when it comes to body hair. It’s how he keeps his chest hair under control and, if he has facial hair, how he wears it. There’s plenty of advice online about the latest trends which can help him be as style-conscious and up-to-date as you are.

#2 - Understand His Proportions

Proportions are tough enough for us ladies, and we have a natural figure that dips in at the waist to help to guide us. No such luck for men, who are pretty much straight up and down. The proportions you have to be particularly aware of are the length of his legs in relation to his back.

As a general rule, the shorter his legs are, the shorter his shirts and tops should be. Wearing these items longer than below the hip bone on short legs can make him appear stumpier, even if he’s actually over 6ft. For someone with a short back and long legs, the opposite is true; opt for longer styles to help create the perfect overall effects.

#3 - Hair Today, And Tomorrow

Men’s hair has changed relatively little in centuries; since guys got rid of the powdered wig the general trend has been short and neat. That’s changed somewhat in recent years with “a bit less short and a bit less neat” becoming more popular, but ultimately, men’s hair is a tale of conformity.

Does it have to be though? If you both like the idea, why not do something truly different that can define his style through its individuality? Hair always grows back or he can throw a hat on, so maybe it’s worth trying something a bit more out there!

Do You Have These Essential Summer Outfits?

Summer is a lot of people's favorite time of year and with good reason! It's the time of year when the sun finally comes out, and you get to enjoy spending some time outdoors. Whether you're the type, to go hiking on the weekends, or if you'd rather spend your time with friends drinking cocktails in the garden, summer really is amazing. Of course, it does bring with it the problem that you've suddenly got a whole new wardrobe to think about. After all, those chunky sweatshirts and scarves aren't going to be much use to you when the temperatures gets up into the mid-eighties.

To help you survive the summer, here are a few essential outfits that you need to have in your wardrobe.

one-piece-swim-suit.jpg

One-piece bathing suit

Sure, bikinis might have ruled the waves for the last few years, but one-piece bathing suits are making a serious comeback! There's nothing quite like the wonderfully classy vintage style that they bring. Whether you're spending the day at the beach, or you're just lounging by the pool, you'll be able to enjoy a little Hollywood glamor.

The perfect beach dress

A day at the beach is the perfect way to spend a hot and sunny day, but if you're not dressed for the occasion then it can be a totally miserable experience! Women's summer beach dresses are the perfect choice for not only looking good but staying comfy when you're playing in the sand. Not only that but if you wear your one-piece underneath then you can whip off the dress without any trouble and go diving into the water!

Classy evening wear

Of course, the summer isn't all days at the beach and lounging in the sun. If you're out on a classy night on the town, then you want to be able to look good without sweating through your best cocktail dress. Take advantage of the weather and show a little skin. Whether it's a long dress with a slit that brings a little bit of sexiness and style, or you want to bring some fun to your evening with a little black dress, there are plenty of options for how you can stay classy while also staying cool when you’re out on the town.

Staying cool at work

One of the toughest places to stay cool while looking good is at work. After all, if you're spending all day in smart clothes and a blazer then unless you spend all day under the A/C, you're going to end up roasting alive! Make sure that you have something like a lightweight shirt and a pencil skirt that gives you room to move and breathe without sacrificing a sense of professionalism and class.

With these few simple outfits, you should be able to stay cool and comfortable while looking good all summer long. And don't you worry, when the seasons change your chunky sweaters and your boyfriend’s hoodie will be right there waiting for you!

8 Style Tips For Looking Good on a Budget

If you’re a bit of a style maven, but find that your budget and credit card bill don’t allow you to be as stylish as you like, then it can be a challenge. There is the constant battle between looking good, feeling good, and avoiding getting yourself into debt unnecessarily. But you know what, your wardrobe doesn’t have to suffer. You can still style yourself well and look good on a bit more of a shoestring budget. There are just a few tips and tricks to learn to help you along the way. You just need to know what they are so you can look out for them. Here are some of my top style tips for dressing well on a budget.

1. If you have a cheaper blazer or jacket, then the chances are that they have some pretty cheap looking buttons and embellishments on them. But the key to shopping on a budget is to not take things at face value. Can you remove some of the embellishments or replace the cheap plastic buttons for some more stylish looking metal ones? If so, your jacket or blazer can look immediately upgraded, at only the cost of a few buttons. So some basic sewing skills are a must for any fashionista!

2. Keeping things simple is a great to look good for less. Take your handbag or purse, for example. Some bags have embellishments on them that just look cheap and tacky. It is pretty hard to do embellishments well, when you’re on a budget, in my opinion. So opt for a more plain and simple looking bag, rather than one with buttons or buckles all over. They bag will be much more versatile this way too, so you’ll be able to wear it with a large amount of outfits.

3. When you want to look good but spend less, there are also some shopping tips to follow, not just style tips. One of which is to shop online. There are many ways to save money when you shop online. Quite often there are discounts online that wouldn’t be in the regular stores, as well as looking on discount sites like Coupon Sherpa. Again, you wouldn’t get these kinds of discounts in the stores as they are only available online. You can often get discounts for signing up for mailing lists online too, so be sure to look out for those potential discounts. I know some people that are a bit wary of shopping online, especially when it comes to fashion. But at the end of the day, you could always try something on in a store to make sure you know what size or fit to get. Then you can go home and buy it online, looking for a coupon or discount to get it cheaper. Why pay more if you don’t need to?

4. If you can’t afford certain materials, then you need to remember that some styles and materials will look more expensive than others. Take, for example, some pumps in faux leather or faux suede. The faux suede are going to look more expensive than the faux leather ones, so they would be a better material to choose. Having said that, they will only look better if they are darker colors. Beige or nude faux suede can look quite tacky, so only opt for the fake stuff if it is in darker colors. They can look just as good as the real stuff when you do.

5. Along similar lines, there are other materials that are going to look more expensive than others. Take linen, cotton, and tweed for clothing styles, for example. These are all materials that often look much more expensive than they actually are. So some linen shorts or pants in summer, are going to look more expensive than they really are. Just make sure that you keep the clothes wrinkle-free. Too many creases can make things look less expensive. So a good iron or a clothes steamer is a great investment for any wardrobe.

6. The color of your clothes often is a good indicator of how expensive clothes are. Some patterns or colors can make clothes look quite cheap, so you do need to take your time to look for the good stuff when you’re out shopping. The second thing that you need to do is to choose darker colors. There are a lot of ways to hide how inexpensive clothes are when they are darker. So navy, browns, blacks (and some nudes) are good color choices for clothes to look more expensive.

7. Some coats, jeans, or jackets might come with belts or accessories. But often if these are of the budget variety, then the belts or accessories are pretty budget too. So swapping out these extras or accessories is a great idea. If you can find a funky or vintage belt in somewhere like a thrift store, then swap that out for the cheap option. It can upgrade the look of the jacket or coat pretty instantly. A quick little trick that can work wonders! Thrift shops are always a good idea to look for some hidden gems to accessorize with. You might not find a whole outfit that will work, but some accessories and other bits to use can often be found if you know what you’re looking for.

8. Most of the time, the inexpensive clothes are going to be the ones that aren’t lined. So investing in a slip (I say investing, but they’re actually pretty cheap), is a great way to make clothing look more expensive. It lines the clothes well so that they don’t look tacky and see through, and can often make the outfit look better on you. It will help the garment to flow better on you, as well as look more elegant. Plus, you’ve got the added bonus of avoiding some wardrobe malfunctions; always a good thing.

Have you got any tips or tricks when it comes to shopping and styling your outfits on a budget? Would love to hear what you think.
