Tutorial- Bantu Knot Out w/ the Hydra Steam Moisturizing System

In this tutorial, I'm reviewing the Hydra Steam Moisturizing System from SoftSheen-Carson using my professional Hair Steamer on my friend Marissa. Her hair is currently heat damaged (mostly in the front) and she wants to transition back to her gorgeous curls. I believe this system is going to make her hair stronger and help create amazing moisture for her two textures.

The Hydra Steam Moisturizing System is a five-part system that gives hair ultimate hydration to provide you with frizz-free curls with definition and moisture. These products contain aloe, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that help restore the pH balance in the hair.

FEATURED PRODUCTS

  • Sulfate-Free Cleanser removes build-up in the hair, helps to hydrate and preps it for your conditioning steam treatment.
  • The Steam Masque is activated by using steam (preferably from a hair steamer) to infuse your hair with water and install moisture.

  • Moisturizing Sealing Spray is a leave in conditioning spray you use after your steam treatment that ensures moisturizing ingredients are secured in your hair for lasting moisture.
  • Curl Designing Cream gives a medium and flexible and leaves your hair with lots of moisture and definition with frizz control.

I am loving how this system makes natural hair more manageable and defining!  Have you tried these products yet?

Holiday Style: Low Curly Ponytail

Low Curly ponytail

If you are following me on Instagram, you already know that I have been helping to get you prepared for the holidays with 6 weeks of hair style inspiration! I decided to highlight some of my favorite styles on the blog so that you can recreate them.

LOW PONYTAIL- this is a simple yet gorgeous hairstyle that is perfect for the holiday season! Very Low maintenance!

TO ACHIEVE THIS STYLE...

  1.  I co-washed my hair using Matrix Bioloage Hydrasource Conditioner.
  2.  Banded wet hair to stretch used Hello Curlies "leave-in conditioner & buttermilk moisturizer" and Aphogee "keratin & green tea reconstructor."
  3. The next morning, I used CHI "silk infusion" oil to flat iron my hair straight (I passed the flat iron only once through my hair.)
  4. Gathered hair into a low bun using the plastic elastic bands.
  5. Used 14'' loose curly hair I bought from the beauty supply and secured it around my hair with bobby pins.
  6. Laid my edges with CURLS "blueberry loss control paste."
  7. Teased ponytail for more volume.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I hope you are all enjoying good food, laughs and company with family and friends.

We are well into week 1 of our Holiday Style Guide and if you haven't entered the contest yet, it's not too late to do say- well you have 1 day until I pick the winner but hey!

This week, in honor of Thanksgiving, we are "GIVING" body & style with a flexi rod set!

This style is easy to achieve & gives so much attitude & personality because it can be styled many ways throughout the week (especially when it gets old).

HOW I ACHEIVED THIS LOOK:
1) Starting with freshly co-washed hair I coated my hair with Jane Carter Solution "wrap foam" and CURLS "cashmere curl jelly"

2) Using small-large flexi rods & a few perm rods I took medium sized sections of hair and rolled my hair around the rods starting at the base and down (to ensure smooth and defined hair.)

3) Sat under my dryer for 30 minutes on warm/high heat to set and then air dried overnight.

4) Next day, took rods out and using Pantene Pro-V "argan oil" I separated curls.

5) Slicked edges with CURLS "passionfruit control paste."

6) For extra volume, I used a pick to fluff.

Have you tried a flexi rod set? What were your results?
