Super Defined Braid Out w/ L'Oreal Extraordinary Oil Collection

For all my naturals out there, YOU already KNOW how we are about our hair and the products that we put into it.... no sulfates, no harsh chemicals, etc, etc. So needless to say, I was a bit skeptical to try the new L'Oreal Extraordinary Oil collection because all products are not made the same and what works good for ladies with straight or relaxed hair is not always the best for use kinky/curly chicas.

So before we get into the review, let's talk a little bit  about these products....

Influenster and L'Oreal Paris handpicked myself and a few other bloggers to try out their new line of hair care products. The Extraordinary Oil Collection is a 4 part system formulated to restore and nourish dry hair. It contains lightweight essential oils like Argan, Chamomile, Coconut, Amla, Soja and Sunflower to revitilize, moisturize and add shine to hair. It's mentioned to eliminate dryness in just 1 wash.

My Review

I was surprised at how the products worked in my hair. With the shampoo containing our dreaded frenemy as naturalistas... SULFATE, it actually did not dry out my hair and I was very surprised at how moisturized and shiny it left it (I have black permanent color on my hair, so the curls were DEF poppin). The conditioner is semi-thick in consistency easily detangled my hair, so I was happy about that.

When it came to the styling process... I used the oil-in- cream along with my Hello Curlies gel and they paired really well together with no sticky or white residue. The oil-in cream, really helped to maintain that softness and sheen from the wash process which I really liked. I used the Oil serum during the take down process of my braid out and it really helped with elevating frizz. NOW I know a lot of bloggers say this, but seriously, you don't need a lot of this oil and it really did help with preventing frizz because when I separate my hair, as much as I try, I do get some frizz but not this time!!

Here are more pics of the finished results...

You can find out where to buy these products by visitng L'OREAL's website and if you are skeptical about the shampoo, make sure you definitely try the other products. The conditioner can definitely double as a deep conditioner and the cream oil leave in and oil serum are amazing.

Flexi Rod Set with Dessange Paris Oleo Miracle Collection

In this tutorial, I will be styling my hair using flexi rods and reviewing the new Dessange Paris Oleo Miracle collection that I received from Influenster to review.

The Oleo Miracle system helps to bring over processed and damaged hair back to life using a 3 unique oil blend of Argan ( rich in fatty acids and Vitamin E to provide intense moisture and long lasting shine), Camellia (plant derived and contains anti-oxidents that help to revitalize and rejuvenate hair) and Pracaxi (extracted from seeds of the Pracaxi tree in S. America, it promotes conditioning and smoothness to the hair). This collection also helps to nourish and bring out your hair's natural beauty while protecting it from future heat damage.

After using these products, I must say that my extensions and my leave out felt nourished and moisturized with a healthy shine. Although the shampoo does contain sulfate, my natural hair (leave out) did not feel dry.

My favorite from the collection is the replenishing oil because not only can I use it to protect my hair from heat styling, but I can also use it for my natural styles like bantu knot outs, twist outs, wash and go's, etc.

The Dessange Paris collection is currently available at Target stores and on Target.com.

Total style time was about 30 minutes.

bantu knot out

Happy Wednesday Loves!

In this tutorial, I'm going to show you how I achieved a fierce bantu knot out on my friend Tiana's transitioning 4B hair with the CURLS whipped styling cream.

PRODUCTS USED

  • Herbalife Strengthening Shampoo. Repairs damage by leaving the hair 10x stronger and reduces breakage by 90% in the 1st use! It contains plant-derived micro-proteins (which strengthen hair) and coconut-derived cleansers that create a reach lather. A plus (my naturalistas) is that this shampoo is color-preserving, sulfate AND paraben free!
  • Herbalife Strengthening Conditioner. This microprotein infused conditioner strengthens hair strands for a softer and silkier feel after one use. Just like the shampoo, it contains hydrolyzed wheat protein (helps to strengthen and aids in repairing the hair), jojoba seed extract (known to be chemically similar to the oils in human skin, it helps improve elasticity and moisturizes) and yucca extract (thickens hair while adding volume).
  • JessiCurl Deep Conditioning Treatment. This thick deep conditioner contains ingredients like moisturizing coca and shea butters deliver intense moisture for your hair especially when used with heat.
  • CURLS Cashmere Curl Leave in Conditioner. This leave in is formulated with cashmere extract (derived from proteins found in goat hair that condition and soften the hair), certified organic aloe leaf (plant derived and contains about 75 nutrients known to promote hair growth, soothes scalp and adds strength to name a few) and coconut milk (extracted from coconuts- it nourishes, de-tangles and conditions the hair) to strengthen, repair and moisturize hair. Valentine's Day Hair: Sexy Heatless Waves

heatlesswaves

In this tutorial, I'm going to show you how I achieve Sexy Heatless Waves with my Arjuni Wavy A hair using Hello Curlies, CURLS and Biosilk hair products.

FEATURED PRODUCTS

  • Hello "Tight" Curly Soft Defining Gel is a lightweight hold gel that is perfect for my loose, tight and wavy curlies as well as my straight and sleek chicas who are looking to achieve a textured style without the use of heat. This product contains Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein (hydrolyzed meaning broken down into smaller units and can easily be absorbed in the hair shaft) and helps to strengthen and aids in repairing the hair. I love how the 1st ingredient in this product is water which lets me know that the product contains more of this and will help the hair retain moisture.
  • CURLS "Passionfruit" Control Paste gets my edges LAID! Since I always leave my edges out when I wear a sew in, I like to make sure that I use a product that can smooth them down as well as add sheen and moisture. I love this product because it contains certified organic ingredients like Evening Primrose (contains Omega 6 fatty acids to help with hair loss), Mango Butter (contains natural emollients to help maintain moisture and promote cell regeneration) and Shea Butter (contains fatty acids which help to seal in moisture and soften).
  • BioSilk Silk Therapy is a weighless leave in silk replenishing and reconstructing treatment that helps repair, smooth, prevent frizz and protect the hair leaving you with incredible shine. This product is created with Hydrolyzed Silk Protein, for strength and shine and 17 of 19 amino acids to aid in reconstructing and revitalizing hair.

This style took about 25 minutes and I slept overnight in a satin bonnet. I maintain this style by 2 stand twisting and using flexi rods at night.
