My Top Tips for Boosting Body Confidence

I like to think that I am a fairly confident person. I have my own sense of style; I dress how I like and do my makeup in a way that represents my personality. However, like every other woman, there have been times in my life when I have lacked confidence.

Sadly, we live in a world where beauty standards are unrealistic, and this can affect how we feel about our bodies. It can be hard to rise above the beauty stereotypes, but it is doable. If you have low self-esteem, getting to a point where you are happy with your appearance can be hard. However, with perseverance and a few simple mindset changes, you can do it.


Just remember that you aren’t alone, many other women feel exactly the same as you. Even supermodels have things that they dislike about themselves. There is not one woman in this world who is 100 percent happy with her appearance; that's a fact.

To help you boost your body confidence and learn to love yourself, I thought I would share a few useful tips with you.

Love your body

You can spend years sculpting your body so that it’s toned and free of fat, but if you don’t believe that you look good, it’s worthless. Learning to love your body isn’t about how ‘perfect’ it is, it’s about how you feel about it.

Studies have shown that women who have slim figures are often, just as unhappy with their appearance as women who have fuller shapes. This shows that it isn’t about what your body looks like, but confidence is based on how you feel about it.

Learning to love yourself isn’t easy, but there are a few things that you can do to speed up the process. Take good care of it -  a healthy body is a happy body, both inside and out. Follow a healthy diet and exercise regime, and you will feel 100 times better about your shape. Treat yourself to fancy underwear - yes, that’s right, having nice underwear can make you feel more confident.


Cover imperfections

You may think that covering up flaws is counter-productive when it comes to body confidence. However, it's not. If you have a scar, for instance, that knocks your confidence, covering it up, could be all that you need to feel happier.

Being body confident is about learning to love yourself for you. However, it’s also taking the steps to change the things that affect your self-esteem. For example, there are woman who feel self-conscious about their lips and have considered or done lip injections to enhance them. 

It’s your body, and you have the right to do whatever you want with it. If there is something that is affecting your confidence, there is nothing wrong with doing what you feel you need to, to boost your self confidence. 


Be positive about your body

Don’t focus on the things that you dislike about yourself, concentrate on the things that you do like. Create a list, on paper or in your head, of all the things that are great about your body. Pointing out areas that you love will boost your confidence, helping you to feel better about yourself, as well as focusing on the areas that you like, think about why you like them. Do you like your hips because they give your figure a nice curve? Are you a fan of your eyes because they’re big and beautiful? Do you love your feet because of how dainty they are?

It can be hard to boost your body confidence, but it is possible. It might take time and perseverance, but once you learn to love yourself, you’ll carry that self-esteem with you for life.
