Your eyebrows are much more than a few wisps of hair above your eyes. They are defining features that make a huge difference to the balance of your face and overall look. Yet, so many women over-pluck their eyebrows or simply don’t know how to make the most of their features. If you want your eyes to look amazing with minimal effort and to give your face more structure, your eyebrows hold the key.

Here’s what you need to know.

Definition and Shaping

Shaping and defining your eyebrows is the first step to getting the low maintenance eyebrows you want. But you probably won’t like the next tip very much: you need to let your eyebrows grow out for a few weeks so that you can see their true shape and potential. After so much plucking, this will be a tough ask but it is worth it to regain a sense of what you have to work with.

For those of you who have already plucked your eyebrows into oblivion, don’t panic. Micro blading is a popular treatment that adds pigment to your skin giving you the illusion of thicker brows. Grow what you can naturally and then use this method to fill out your brows and add greater definition.

Take Care of Your Skin

While you are focused on shaping your eyebrows, you probably aren’t giving the skin underneath enough love and attention. A cooling lotion can really help to calm your skin after plucking and shaping your brows. A homemade lotion is usually the best way to ensure all natural ingredients and the best results. Plus, you can add any essential oils you like to get the scent you love.

You should be thinking about your skin all the time and doing the basics like drinking plenty of water and cleansing after wearing makeup will make a big difference in how it feels. Just because you can’t see the skin under your eyebrows, doesn’t mean it doesn’t deserve some attention!

Let Your Eyebrows Be

There are a million and one products you can use on your eyebrows but often, less is more. By reducing the amount that you pluck away and reducing how frequently you do so, you will find that your eyebrows are much healthier in growth and thickness.

There are a lot of different eyebrow fashions at the moment but the main thing to remember is that anything you do should suit your face shape and style. It’s silly to follow any fashion that doesn’t quite fit your personality and your face is pretty central to that! If you are in doubt, it’s always best to leave your brows natural and simply do a bit of tidying around the edges. Seeing a brow specialist is also a good idea as they will be able to give you a more seamless look than you might achieve at home. However, do make sure that you give them thorough instructions for what you want!

Age Gracefully: What To Do & What To Avoid

It is a natural fact of life that we get older and there can be a variety of different factors that play a part in how well we age. We all know those people that seem to get better with age, don’t we? Whether it is down to genetics or looking after their body in a healthy way; there are several things that can impact how well we age. While it is a privilege that is denied to many, there are still things that we can be doing to make sure that we age as well as possible and feel the best about ourselves.

Here are a few tips and tricks to know what is best to avoid if you want to age in the best way.

Avoid Too Much Makeup

As we get older, it can be tempting to slip on a little more makeup than you normally would in an effort to help you look more youthful. But in fact, it could have the reverse impact. Too much makeup can dry out your skin, draw attention to lines and wrinkles, and make things look less than classy (think of spidery eyelashes, for example). So keep things more natural looking and light, and it will look much better.

Avoid Too Much Salt

Aging isn’t all about how we look on the outside, but we can age from the inside outwards too, and too much salt in our diet can have a negative impact on our health and our bodies. High blood pressure is also something that can play a part in how gracefully you age (or not), and salt is a massive trigger to make high blood pressure worse. So be vigilant about the salt in the food that you eat, as high blood pressure can lead to some serious health issues if left to get worse.

Avoid Overindulging

Having a little indulgence from time to time can be a real treat and a way to celebrate. But moderation really is key with this kind of thing. Alcohol can be incredibly calorific if we have too much, and can cause health problems ( as can smoking and recreational drugs). Overeating can have serious health issues for us too, so have a look at your lifestyle and see if there are any things that you can change. If you or a loved one is finding that they are dependent on things, then looking at somewhere like the Amethyst Recovery Center could be a good idea to get more information. Then you will be able to age in the best way possible.

There are always going to be some things in life that we find stressful- from work to our family life. But when we don’t deal with stress well or don’t make time for self-care, then it can lead to some health problems, such as heart disease and depression (or that pesky high blood pressure again). Manage your stress and take time out for yourselves and it can make such a difference to your health and well-being.

Make Your Eyes Look Amazing Without Makeup

You do not have to wear makeup all the time for your eyes to look their best. In fact, it does them good to have a rest from it. Forget the mascara, eyeshadows and liners for a while and let the natural beauty of your eyes light up your face.

Get Enough Sleep

You need to get enough sleep if you do not want your eyes to look droopy or puffy. When you sleep, your body repairs and restores itself and that includes your eyes. If you do not want them to look dull and lifeless, but want them to be sparkling, make sure you do not stay up all night but get the sleep you need.

Look After Your Eyebrows

Your eyebrows frame your eyes and although sorting them is not as important as regular eye care checks, they are still an important part of looking after your eyes from a beauty perspective. Do not pluck them too much as a strong eyebrow can make your eyes look wonderful. It is best to get them professionally shaped and find out from the experts what the best shape is for your face structure. Brushing them upwards can help to open up the area around your eyes too.

Treat The Skin Around Your Eyes

When you are moisturizing the rest of your face do not forget the skin around your eyes. You should not use your normal moisturizer for this area though as the skin is much thinner. You should use a gentler cream that offers a barrier repair, and something with a rich emollient is the best.

Have A Nightly Routine

Get into the habit of applying eye cream at night as part of your beauty regime. You can even put it on your eyelids at this time of day. It will help to restore your skin around the eyes from the vigor’s of the day and make them look much more refreshed when you get up the next morning.

Have A Different Morning Routine

You should apply a lighter eye cream in the morning and avoid putting any on your eyelids. Be gentle as you are applying it as pressure around your eyes can cause puffiness.

Eye Brightening Drops

Eye brightening drops can be good for anyone that suffers from allergies, or if your eyes are looking tired. If they are feeling irritated the eye drops can ease this, and reduce any redness in them. There are ones on the market that are designed especially to brighten your eyes, but before you put anything into this most delicate organ, you should speak with your physician and OK it with them.

Stay Healthy

The most important thing to keep your eyes looking good is to stay healthy.  Getting enough sleep has already been mentioned, but did you realize that exercise is good for your eyes as well as the rest of your body? Taking a short walk can improve the eyes fluid drainage system and make them look brighter.

If you keep getting dark circles around them it could be a sign of an iron deficiency. Try eating some iron rich foods and the dark circles should become less obvious. If they do not, talk to your physician, as you may need an iron supplement.

Your eyes can look great all the time without the need for any makeup at all, you just need to care for them.

Feel Like You Have A Brand New Face

It’s easy to look at your face and feel downhearted about how it looks. Whether you have a flurry of spots on your forehead, or you are dealing with wrinkles underneath your eyes, you wish you could scrap your current face and start all over again. In fact, it leads a lot of people to lose confidence.

Here are three steps to take to feel like you have a brand-new face!

Opt for a face mask

You might be surprised how many benefits there can be from having a face mask. For one thing, if your current skin is looking a bit dull and tired, it can give it an instant lift, and you can be left with a stunning complexion. In fact, a lot of girls benefit from a beautiful glow after having a facelift. Also, if your skin is a bit dehydrated, a face mask can give it a boost of hydration. Therefore, you are less likely to have dry and weary skin. Also, a face mask can help with any redness you might be facing if you are prone to acne. It can clear it up to reduce the inflammation on your face. You could choose to buy a face mask which you can just buy and apply to your skin. After all, you can put it on your skin and then relax for 20 minutes while you induce the benefits of the face mask. Or you might want to make your own with natural ingredients. For instance, applying coconut oil to your face can do wonders for your skin!

Go for a facial treatment

A lot of people opt for a facial treatment if they are feeling low about their skin. After all, if you have tons of wrinkles and spots, it can be an excellent way to ease them to leave you with young looking skin again. It might be a simple treatment like a facial which you go for. After all, they can often apply creams to help your skin become soft and glowing. And they can give you further advice on how to protect your skin in future. If you are someone who has been considering a more permanent solution, you could opt for facial plastic surgery. I have come across a lot of women who have mentioned that for them, subtle surgery was the way to go.  But make sure you check out all the different options before you do consider going for a treatment.

Go for a different makeup style

We tend to get into a routine when it comes to makeup. After all, we pick the same items to use every day, and we know exactly how we will apply them to create our daily look. But if you want to give your face a new look, it’s time to go different with your makeup. Opt for a new style which will wow everyone. After all, it can make you look completely different if you change your makeup look. You might want to try something different like extra long mascara. Or you ought to opt for a brighter eyeshadow to really raise heads, and then it can feel like you are a brand-new you without changing much!

And remember that you can try and rid signs of aging from your face by following a healthy diet and lifestyle.

Practical Ways To Deal With Adult Acne

They say they are meant to be the best days of your life - but for many of us, our teenage years consist of stress, worry, and a lot of emotional and physical challenges. For a lot of us, we are glad to see the back of them, so what do you do when problems from your teenage years follow you into adult life? One example of this is acne. Acne is typically associated with teenagers, and very occasionally, people in their early twenties. Of course, everyone gets an odd pimple every now and again, or maybe a small cluster of blackheads. But acne is a far more debilitating condition that can be painful, and that can seriously knock a person's confidence. Part of the reason why acne is commonly associated with teenagers is that it is often caused by significant hormonal changes within the body. Usually, these hormones level out after a number of years and the acne clears up - but when it doesn't, it can be quite distressing to the individual suffering. Adult acne is never an easy ride, but here are a few things you can do to make your condition more bearable to live with.

Ditch the drugstore products

Whether you want to admit to it or not, acne is a skin condition - so much more than the odd spot or bi-monthly breakout. Drugstore products are simply not designed to cope with the strength and density of acne symptoms. They are instead typically designed to be mild for someone with average skin so that they can target the biggest market possible. Stop spending hundreds every year on multiple drugstore products that don't work, and instead consider prescription medication. Of course, you need to learn how to use Retin-A Tretinoin and other similar products safely and efficiently, as they can be quite strong. But they are designed to tackle even severe acne, so you can hope to get a better result from them.

Don't wear makeup every day

Your acne might affect your confidence so much that you feel as though you have to do something every day to mask the appearance of it - even just for yourself. But wearing heavy makeup all the time can quickly worsen your condition and can sometimes even make the scars appear more pronounced. Learn to accept your acne as a part of you on those days where you don't need to see anyone or leave the house. If you can, leave unusually heavy makeup for special occasions only, to let your skin breathe.

Stick to a healthy diet

While acne is mostly caused by hormonal imbalances, certain lifestyle aspects can also have an impact on its severity. Eating a diet mainly made up of processed foods and soda will only clog up your skin even further - remember your skin is an organ, and it needs vitamins and minerals to keep it healthy. Try and drink at least eight glasses of water a day and eat a diet rich in fresh fruits, vegetables, and oily fish. It won't clear up your acne completely, but it will certainly help improve the overall appearance of your skin.

My Top Tips For Faking Beautiful Glowing Skin

If your skin isn’t perfect, don’t stress, you are not alone. It’s incredibly common to have skin imperfections, in fact, we all have them. As our faces are the main focal point of our bodies, it’s only natural that we want beautiful skin.

Even if your skin isn’t perfect, don’t make the mistake of thinking that you can’t achieve it. You may not have naturally perfect skin, but you can easily fake it til ya make it. Believe it or not, with a few simple makeup tricks, you can make your skin glow.

If you want to make your skin look a little healthier, the first thing that you need to do is exfoliate your skin. Exfoliating is one of the best ways to get rid of imperfections, as it removes dead skin cells and dry skin. Exfoliation also helps eliminate bacteria from your face, to aid in preventing spots from occurring.

The key to exfoliation is to make sure that you choose a product that is free of any harsh chemicals as these can cause all sorts of damage to your skin. If you are a fan of making your own beauty products, consider using a DIY exfoliator. You can find lots of recipes online for homemade facial scrubs, so make sure to check these out.

Use primer

Before applying your makeup, make sure to use a primer. If you want to make your skin look perfect, wearing a primer under your foundation is a must. There are various types to choose from, so whatever skin type you have, there will be a suitable primer for you.

Pick a foundation with a pink undertone

The key to making your skin glow is the foundation you wear. Yes, taking care of your skin helps, but the most important thing for glowing skin is the foundation that you choose to wear. From liquid foundations to cream-to-powder ones, there are various types of foundation to choose from.

While the style of foundation you use doesn’t affect how much your skin glows, the color foundation that you opt for will do. To give your skin a beautiful glow, opt for a pink-toned foundation. You will find that by opting for a foundation with a pink undertone, your skin will naturally look healthier.

Don’t forget to add bronzer

Once you've put your foundation on, the next step is to add touches of bronzer around your face. This should be placed on your cheekbones, chin, and forehead. For glowing skin, only a small amount of light-toned bronzer is needed.

Finish with powder

Once you have applied your foundation and bronzer, the next step is to set it in place with powder. The last thing you want after spending a long time creating perfect glowing skin is your makeup to come off. That’s why, once you have created the perfect glowing look, it’s crucial that you use powder to set it.

There are plenty of translucent powders on the market to choose from, but make sure to check out Ben Nye's banana powder online. This is one of the most popular powders and is fantastic for setting your makeup in place.

Get the Illusion of "false lashes" w/ Younique 3d Fiber Lashes

Younique 3d mascara

Hey Loves,

In this video, I am during a tutorial on the Younique 3d Fiber Lash Mascara that I was sent by Faith Full Lashes to review. It's a 2-part system that dramatically enhances your lashes with a transplanting gel and 100% natural fibers derived from green tea.

Some of the key ingredients include...

Collagen- a protein that works with elastin to give skin its texture, structure, and appearance. It contains antioxidants, and may help add volume and shine to the appearance of eyelashes.

Water (Aqua)- Hydrates and cleanses the skin, and works as a natural spreading component to evenly distribute other ingredients evenly over the skin.

Beeswax (Natural Propolis)-  derived from bees and is believed to have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

1) Apply your favorite mascara

2) Working with 1 lash at a time, apply 1 coat of the transplanting gel

3) Immediately after apply the natural fibers making sure to pay close attention to your tips

4) Seal with the transplanting gel

5) Repeat steps 2-4 to 2nd lash

6) Enhance your lashes by curling them using a blow dryer on low/warm heat (optional)

I have been using this product for months now and I love the results every time and this has become one of my staple make up products!

This mascara comes off very easy with make up remover and I haven't lost any of my real lashes in the process (lol). It's a natural and safe alternative to wearing false lashes.

Make-up Review: Rimmel London Lip Lacquer and NYC HD Trio

Last month, I received the Influenster VoxBox (check it out here) to review and I wanted to show you what the Rimmel London Lip Lacquer and NYC HD Color Trio looked like.

Rimmel London "Show Off" Lip Lacquer in Luna

NYC "HD Color" Trio in Long Beach Sands

To be honest, I am not please with the look because it looks like I don't have any make up on and by the end of the day it REALLY looked that way. The NYC eye shadow did not hold up even with using a primer and for the Rimmel London Laquer, I could not use it as a stand alone because the color was "too pink" for me.

I will keep these products in my make up bag because I can most likely mix them with my other products to create a really great look. These are definitely not stand alone products for my complexion minus what I originally said in the Vox Box review.

Have you tried any of these products? What is your favorite?

DISCLAIMER: I received these items as a member of Influenster but as always, thoughts and opinions are my own.
