Recipe For The Perfect Brows!

Your eyebrows are much more than a few wisps of hair above your eyes. They are defining features that make a huge difference to the balance of your face and overall look. Yet, so many women over-pluck their eyebrows or simply don’t know how to make the most of their features. If you want your eyes to look amazing with minimal effort and to give your face more structure, your eyebrows hold the key.

Here’s what you need to know.

Definition and Shaping

Shaping and defining your eyebrows is the first step to getting the low maintenance eyebrows you want. But you probably won’t like the next tip very much: you need to let your eyebrows grow out for a few weeks so that you can see their true shape and potential. After so much plucking, this will be a tough ask but it is worth it to regain a sense of what you have to work with.

For those of you who have already plucked your eyebrows into oblivion, don’t panic. Micro blading is a popular treatment that adds pigment to your skin giving you the illusion of thicker brows. Grow what you can naturally and then use this method to fill out your brows and add greater definition.

Take Care of Your Skin

While you are focused on shaping your eyebrows, you probably aren’t giving the skin underneath enough love and attention. A cooling lotion can really help to calm your skin after plucking and shaping your brows. A homemade lotion is usually the best way to ensure all natural ingredients and the best results. Plus, you can add any essential oils you like to get the scent you love.

You should be thinking about your skin all the time and doing the basics like drinking plenty of water and cleansing after wearing makeup will make a big difference in how it feels. Just because you can’t see the skin under your eyebrows, doesn’t mean it doesn’t deserve some attention!

Let Your Eyebrows Be

There are a million and one products you can use on your eyebrows but often, less is more. By reducing the amount that you pluck away and reducing how frequently you do so, you will find that your eyebrows are much healthier in growth and thickness.

There are a lot of different eyebrow fashions at the moment but the main thing to remember is that anything you do should suit your face shape and style. It’s silly to follow any fashion that doesn’t quite fit your personality and your face is pretty central to that! If you are in doubt, it’s always best to leave your brows natural and simply do a bit of tidying around the edges. Seeing a brow specialist is also a good idea as they will be able to give you a more seamless look than you might achieve at home. However, do make sure that you give them thorough instructions for what you want!

Revive A Boring Skincare Routine With These Exciting Tips

Taking care of your skin is an essential part of a beauty routine. Without removing makeup or using a moisturizer, it will begin to crack and flake. Even worse, wrinkles and lines will appear and the signs of aging will start to show sooner rather than later. It may be winter, but the battle to save your skin never ends as the cold weather is as threatening as the warm, humid temperatures.

Washing your face daily may be a skin-saver, yet there’s no doubt it’s boring. As a result, it’s not easy to maintain the same level of consistency as usual. Take one day off and the biggest organ in the body will start to show its flaws, which is something you want to avoid for a long time.

The answer is to revive a routine with exciting methods. Then, you won’t have a dull mindset or skin. Because it can be tricky to overhaul a regimen, there are tips below for anybody who needs inspiration.

Invest In A Facial

One of the worst parts of a routine is the amount of effort it takes to complete the task. All any woman wants to do is sit down in front of the TV and put on her favorite episode of Friends; orr, it would be nice to flick through a magazine while professionals take care of the nitty-gritty. With a facial, either option is available.

DIY pastes and creams are straightforward to apply and take an hour or two to work. So, there is nothing wrong with lying on the sofa and taking the edge off for “therapeutic” reasons. If the plasma screen just happens to land on Netflix, then that’s all the better. Although they are cheap, the quality isn’t as good, nor is the process as stress-relieving than with a pro.

Go on; schedule an appointment now for the sake of your skin!

Steam Your Face

Sticking with the relaxing theme, let’s move onto a bucket of steam. Okay, that’s not a thing, but using hot water to cleanse the pores is. It may leave you a little hot under the collar, yet that’s all part of the fun. There is no way to multitask while steaming the skin, but this is an advantage in some ways. After all, you get to shut off completely.

The setup is simple: boil the kettle, pour the water into a container, and grab a flannel. Then, use the cloth to cover your face as you lean over the hot water. Think of it as going for a steam after a gym session, only with fewer naked people in the room! Keep your face over the bowl for about seven to ten minutes for the best results.

Although it sounds a little basic, the heat leaves you feeling invigorated and ready for round two.

Drink Water

Your skin needs moisture to look flawless, and the only way to keep up with the demands is to drink water. The problem is H2O is boring and not exciting whatsoever. There is no flavor and it doesn’t get the taste buds salivating like a deep glass of vino or a can of soda.

This is where flavored sparkling water brands spice things up a bit. Infused with carbonated fruit water, the taste and the texture will get you coming back for more. Plus, the majority of them don’t have any refined sugar or sweetener products, so drinking bottled, flavored water won’t result in weight gain.

Make sure you read the calorie count on the packaging before heading to the checkout.

Light It Up

Technology is advancing at a rapid pace, and the health and beauty industry is benefiting. Today, it’s possible to buy an LED light mask which, other than making you look like Hannibal Lecter, penetrates the skin at different levels. As a result, it’s thought to fight off everything from wrinkles, flat skin which isn’t moist, and acne-causing bacteria.

The way it works is quite self-explanatory once you understand the basics. The blue lights kill bad bacteria and the red ones help the body to produce collagen. The latter is how the mask plumps up flat skin. Depending on what you want to achieve, pick a color and pop it on for no longer than ten to fifteen minutes.

Yes, it is a tad expensive with some specialists charging $120 for a twenty-minute session. However, there is nothing as exciting as the novelty of the first-time experience.

If you’re committed to fighting the signs of aging, it’s time to incorporate some fun into your routine to keep it fresh.

Why Alcohol Is Bad For Your Skin

People do not always realize what a bad effect alcohol can have on their skin. You can spend time every day on your skincare routine and then undo all the good work by having a few drinks. It does not matter what alcohol is your favorite vice, they can all make your skin looked tired and lifeless. It can cause outbreaks, and patches of dry skin as well as red blotches.

Alcohol is a toxin that has little nutritional value.  It can disrupt your hormones, damage your skin cells, reduce your immunity levels and affect your liver functions. All of these can have an impact on the appearance and aging of your skin.

The Bad Effects Of Alcohol On Your Skin

Alcohol is a diuretic that will force water from our bodies and will leave you dehydrated. It is also harder to rehydrate after you have consumed a few drinks. The effects of this are dry flaky skin with wrinkles becoming more apparent.

It also has an inflammatory effect on our bodies, which quickly shows up as redness, breakouts, and puffiness. The breakouts can be made worse because of its high sugar content, which is also bad for our insulin levels. Alcohol also contains a lot of salt, which can make your face appear puffy and swollen.

Does Changing Your Drink Help?

Different alcoholic drinks will affect your skin in different ways, but they are all can have a negative effect. An Espresso Martini will stimulate stress hormones, which is not good for your skin. Too much red wine will cause your blood vessels to expand creating redness and too much white wine contains sulfites, which can irritate your skin.

If you are a person that drinks in heavy rotation, your skin is going to suffer, and your body as well. This is why some people go on a sober living program, because they can see the results of too much drinking, but need help to break the habit. There is no shame in that.

How Quickly Does Alcohol Affect Your Skin?

When you get up after an evening of having multiple drinks, your skin will probably appear dull, and any lines will show up more and anyone that suffers from acne or rosacea is likely to experience flare-ups.

The good news is that it takes just three days for your liver to excrete the alcohol, sugars and anything else that is not good for you. This does mean that at times like Christmas, weddings or other special events if you indulge in a few drinks you know that it will not take too long for your body and skin to recover.

You can also help your skin to improve after a drinking spree by adding some vitamin A into your skincare routine. This will encourage your cells to regenerate after you have inhibited them because of consuming alcohol. Drinking at least two liters of water a day will kick start the liver to detoxify, and that will help too.

No one would ever suggest that you must not touch alcohol again, but just be aware of the effects it can have on your skin. You should consume alcohol in moderation as to not but stress on your body and liver.

3 Ways To Prevent Dry Skin This Winter

Have you had enough of enduring dry, itchy, and patchy skin during the winter? You’re certainly not alone - all skin types tend to suffer when the temperatures drop, and dryness tends to make a few of the most common issues even worse.

This season you’ll be able to show up for all of those Christmas parties with a healthy glow and with a perfectly moisturized face. Just follow a few of these steps, and you should be able to take care of the stuff we dislike the most about winter: dry skin, patchy lips, and red-ish hands.

Here is a quick guide to keeping your skin nourished for the next couple of months so that you can smile at yourself in the mirror without cracking up - literally, that is.

Swap out your skincare products

The products you use on your skin during spring and summer won’t necessarily be as good for you when the temperatures drop. Just like you tend to crave warm blankets and bottomless cups of tea during the cold season, your skin is going to crave moisture. Take a look at the skincare products you have in your cabinet at the moment and consider if a few of them should be allowed to rest until spring.

Light creams, for example, and cleansing facial cleaners may not be as nourishing as richer products. Try to find some all natural face exfoliators if you struggle with oily as well as dry skin so that you can clear away dead skin cells without drying out your skin even more. The most important thing you can do for your skin, after all, is to make sure that the creams you apply are suitable.

Remember to use a rich lotion, body butter or oil as well, and apply it as soon as you’re out the shower to seal in moisture.

Cut down on your showers

Talking about your grooming routines; if you manage to cut down on the time you spend in the shower as well as decreasing the temperature slightly, you might notice a huge difference on your skin. While it may be hard to not stand in the shower forever and just feel the hot water when it’s ice cold outside, you will be doing to skin a huge favor. Try to use products in the shower that are mild as well, and steer clear of heavily fragranced products and those that contain alcohol.

Those with very dry skin may want to consider using all natural soap or shower cream that are made for those with skin sensitivities or allergies. It’s a little bit more expensive but definitely worth it if you want to avoid itchiness and dryness. Simply Soaps has great all natural and moisturizing soaps that you can try at affordable prices.

Moisturize the air

Finally, you should try to take care of one of the main things that is causing our skin to dry out and our hair to go all frizzy. While the air outside is freezing cold and unpleasant, all of that electrical heating inside isn’t really making it any better for you.

It’s not like you’re going to stop heating up your place, though, as it’s surely better to have dry skin and frizzy hair than shivering when you’re trying to relax at home. Just invest in an air humidifier instead; it will pump some moisture back into the air when you’re at home so that your skin won’t dry out so much.

It’s good to breathe in as well, and you will certainly notice a difference on your skin and hair. Just find one that is reasonably priced and with the capacity to cover your entire home. Alternatively, you can just move it around your home in case you live in a house and don’t want to spend all your savings on a huge humidifier.

Skincare during winter requires a bit of extra thought and care - especially when you want to avoid dry skin. Remember to drink enough water as well, and treat yourself to a face mask once or twice a week to maintain that healthy glow.

Why Your Skin Isn't As Healthy As It Could Be

Your skin is much more than you might think it is. It is actually the largest organ that your body has, and as such it is something that you should make sure you are taking proper care of at all times. By properly looking after the skin, you can be sure you're keeping away some of the worst diseases known to humanity, along with allowing yourself to look better, and encouraging better all-round health across your bodily systems too. Unfortunately, a lot of people fail to look after their skin as best as they could, and often this comes down to a few simple things which could easily be changed.

In this article, we are going to take a look at a few of the things that might be stopping your skin from being healthier. Take care of these and you'll find that it makes a huge difference.

Too Much Sun

We all know some of the problems with overexposure to the sun. Yet, it can be so easy to allow your skin to be in the sun for too long. Sometimes it is simply forgetfulness, and sometimes it might even be that you think it doesn’t matter and allow your skin to be out in the open when probably you shouldn't. However, it’s a good idea to begin being careful about when you are in the sun, especially if you are worried about skin cancer, for example if you have had it in the past or you are concerned about one or two of your moles. As long as you don’t get too much sun, you are doing the number one thing you should be doing to keep your skin healthy, so this is absolutely the most important concern of all.

Not Enough Water

One of the biggest skin care concerns has to be water. People often find that they are quick to use moisturizer, but for some reason or another much less keen to simply drink more water. If you have started to think that you could probably do with drinking more water, then the truth is that that could make a huge difference to how healthy your skin is. If you feel there are problems with your skin, almost always you can improve the situation simply by upping your water intake. To do this, you might want to consider the simple yet effective solution of carrying a water bottle around with you, and ensuring that you drink it. Once you start doing so, you will notice an improvement in mood and in your overall health too, so you will probably be inclined to carry on as a result of that. If you improve your water intake, your skin will not only be healthier, but it will glow more as well.

Poisons

It is also worth looking to see if you have any poisons going into your system on a regular basis which you might be able to do away with. This could be any number of things, but some of the most common are also the worst offenders. Probably the two most common are nicotine and alcohol. If you consume either of these in any large degree, it is almost certainly affecting your skin, so it is definitely a good idea to try and cut down as best as you can. You will find that doing so makes a huge difference, and that it does so quickly as well. If you find it difficult, consider getting some help for it. This will not only be good for your skin but for your overall health as well. As long as you keep poisons to a minimum, your skin will be in a much healthier state on the whole.

Stress

As with most things to do with your health, your skin can be affected greatly by your stress levels. If you are routinely or overly stressed, this will definitely have an effect on your skin health, so you should think about what you might be able to do to keep your stress levels down in future. As it happens, this can be easier said than done, but you will probably agree that it is worth it - especially because of all the other benefits you will see from doing so. Stress is a major skin problem, so be sure to try and do away with it as best as you can.

7 Ways To Get Ready For Summer

Spring can be full of uncertainties. One minute it is warm and sunny outside and the next it is cloudy, rainy and freezing cold. We are either full of colds and sniffling or coughing our way through our days, and let’s not forget all of the comfort food we tend to consume when the weather isn’t too great outside. But as we are fast approaching the Summer, we can start to see some of the changes in our days. The mornings are getting lighter and the evenings less dark. It got me thinking about some of the other ways we could get ourselves ready for the Summer season.

Who else longs for the heat on their skin and a chance to wear just the one layer of clothing? I am sure I am not alone. But truth be told there should be a fair bit of preparation needed to get ourselves ready for the summer months ahead, both physically and mentally. With that in mind, here are some of the things we could do to get our minds and bodies ready for the warmer weather.

Maybe we need to think about defuzzing

There are some major positives to Winter because we spend most of our time wrapped up in all of the layers, it means we don’t have to spend too much time on hair removal when it comes to our legs and bodies. But now that Spring is almost over Summer is around the corner, there are more and more opportunities to strip off those layers and start enjoying the finer weather. This means we are going to have to pay some real attention to defuzzing our bodies.

Hair removal can be a bit of a chore, and I understand that. There are also many different options to consider. Shaving can be the easiest and most cost efficient way of removing hair, but it would require you to do it more often. Then there is waxing which can offer a more long term solution, and you can either choose to go to a salon or do it from the comfort of your own home. This is when it may be worth taking a look to find out the best wax for hair removal to ensure you get the best results.

Exfoliation time

It’s not just hair removal we need to think about when it comes to our bodies, it will also need a bit of TLC when it comes to the condition. Wrapping up in layers means your skin may have started to dry out a little. Making it feel rough to touch and out of condition. But you can get that glowing skin look once more by adding a simple exfoliation to your routine. Using an exfoliator every time you shower or bathe is a great way to help your skin regenerate new skin cells.

Give your feet some love

It’s approaching the season where you may be wanting to wear sandals or flip-flops without the constant rain, but it’s fair to say your feet will have been cooped up in socks and closed toes shoes for the last few months. That might mean your heels are cracking, your skin is dry and your nails are needing a polish and some love. So spend some time giving yourself an at home pedicure and moisturize those feet every night before bed. You won’t believe the difference it will make, and it will have you ready for those summer shoes in no time at all.

Time for a detox

You may have spent most of January on a health kick, but it’s always worth developing habits that you can stick to throughout the year. So it may be the perfect time for you to increase your water intake for the summer ahead. Water is nature's natural detox, and it naturally flushes out your body of all the bad toxins that can build up. There are also some other benefits of drinking more water throughout the day. Things like improved skin tone and condition, improved mood and better quality of sleep at night. It can be a real miracle worker and certainly a habit that will help you throughout the year. After all, with hotter weather approaching you may need to ensure you stay hydrated.

Keep that healthy eating diet going

Who says it is just January that you need to be healthy for? Why not try and take some of the diet changes through to the summer? This could be a great way to maintain your weight and feel better in your own skin. Our energy levels and how we look can have much to do with what we eat and what our diets are like. So if you have managed to refrain from alcohol throughout dry January and rainy April, then don’t go crazy at the beginning of July. Why not try and only drink an alcoholic drink at a social event instead of at home? If you have cut out the take out food or junk then why does it need to stop now? Save those items for a treat rather than adding them back into your everyday diet. Small changes can have a huge impact on how you look and feel.

Give yourself that summer glow

Not all of us are fortunate enough to jet off on holiday before summer arrives, but that doesn't mean you can’t get that sun-kissed glow. Applying a bit of self-tan or gradual tanner can give you that healthy glow without the need for hours of sunbathing. It can also really boost your mood as you can tend to look more healthy and ready for the day ahead.

Ditch the black

Now would be the ideal time to add some color back into your wardrobe. While black is an awesome fashionable color, sometimes you can just feel brighter and happier if you add a bit more color to your fashion choices. Even if it’s as simple as wearing a bright colored lipstick. Small changes can make a huge difference and certainly put us in the mood for warmer days.

I hope these tips help you get yourself ready for the summer months ahead.

Hot Beauty Trends For Summer 2017

As the weather’s getting hot, the sweaters are going away, and the legs are coming out, it’s high time we start considering what will be hot this summer. The catwalks at London, Milan, Paris, and New York were rich with great ideas and inspiration for fun and flirty summer looks for this year, and the excitement is rising. It’s a year of brilliant mismatching, crazy glitter, and out-there lipsticks. But it’s also a year for appreciating the beauty in nature. Natural hair and flawless, glowing skin are essential this year. Everything else is just exciting and on trend adornment. Here are just a few beauty trends which are going to be all sorts of hot this year, and how you can get the look.

Natural hair

twist-out-on-natural-hair.jpg

We spend too much time trying to flatten, smooth, curl, and dye our hair. How did society somehow convince us our hair was all wrong, and the only way we could be seen in public is by making it look as far from natural as possible? Well, this year, sisters are taking it back. This year, we don’t have to dye it, we don’t have to flatten it, and we don’t have to braid it if we don’t want to.

The key to natural hair is keeping it healthy. Regular doses of coconut oil, or whatever your favorite intensive moisturizer is, will keep it glossy and bouncy, without weighing it down with chemicals. The essential thing is a good cut. If your cut is sympathetic to your hair type, you will barely need to style it once you’re out of the shower. Allowing it to air dry, especially in the summer, can be a great way to keep cool, and if you get a killer ‘do at the end of it, without having to spend an hour drying, straightening, and styling, you’re onto a winner. So, be sure to go to a stylist who is used to working with your hair type, and have a long, in-depth discussion about what you actually want to achieve, before they even get the scissors out. A stylist who knows exactly how to get the most out of your hair, with the least effort, is someone you need to keep close to you - they’re gold.

Glitter all over

Did glitter ever really go out of fashion? Who knows, but whatever its previous status, it’s certainly back this year with a vengeance. The catwalks over Fashion Week showed beautiful women’s faces caked in glitter in a statement that was difficult to miss. From chunky glitter lips, to heavy under-eye glitter liner, to everything in between, this summer’s evening look is guaranteed to be pure glitz and glam. While the heavy looks don’t necessarily seem wearable, it’s not a look which is particularly hard to achieve.

The glitter lipstick look is probably more wearable than the heavy eye-makeup. For a subtle but cute look, check out the Star Wave Glitter Tints by Cailyn Cosmetics at Sweet Sparkle Makeup. If you want something a bit more out there, be sure to keep the rest of your look neutral - you don’t want to look like a clown heading to a kid’s party, after all. Be sure to pick yourself up some fine, makeup grade glitter, and choose your favorite lipstick to match.

Start by cleaning and buffing your lips to remove any residue or dry skin, and then simply put your lipstick on. Blot the lipstick, and add a bit more on top for optimal color coverage and stickiness. Next, get a cotton ball, twirl it in your makeup glitter, and go ahead and dab it onto your lips. Keep on doing this until your lips are just as glittery as you like. Press your lips together to push all the glitter in place, and pop your finger in your mouth and pull it out to avoid the awkward glitter-tooth look which some of us are guaranteed to rock this year, and you’re good to go. Keeping the pot of glitter in your purse will allow you to top off whenever you need to, but as long as you drink through a straw and there’s no meal on the cards, the glitter should stay in place, and dazzle everyone who sees it.

Glowing skin

Every year we desperately try to make our skin glow in winter, and mattify it in the summer. It’s like we always want it to be the opposite of what it naturally wants to do. Well, this summer, embrace the glowing, dewy look - it’s going to be all the rage. Achieving the look will be different degrees of difficulty, depending on your skin type and how receptive it is to moisture. Here is a foolproof way to get the glowing look, and keep any oiliness in check this summer.

First things first, you’re going to want to stay hydrated. When your skin wants to simultaneously dry out, and become a grease fest, as many of ours want to do in the summer, it’s important to try to keep it healthy from the inside out. So lots and lots of water is essential. Secondly, your diet and exercise are going to have a bit impact. The healthier and happier you are, the more your skin will glow naturally. So get on the exercise bike, walk to work, eat well, and sleep plenty, and you’ll already start to see your skin glowing. And then it’s all about your routine. Washing morning and night with a perfume-free, gentle cleanser, followed by a gentle toner and moisturizer will create a good basis for your skin. Your moisturizer entirely depends on you and your needs - you might be a shea butter or coconut oil kinda girl, or you might just be happy with a light lotion, it’s entirely up to you. Keeping it natural and perfume-free isn’t just essential for sensitive skin, but it can also really help to avoid your skin drying out.

Once you’ve got your skin fully prepped with all of the goodies it needs to stay healthy, soft, and supple, it’s time for the makeup. In summer, a heavy, full coverage foundation can be overkill. In the hot weather, it tends to become cakey, and you’ll lose a lot of the natural glow that you’ve worked hard to achieve with your diet, exercise, and skin care regime. Sticking to a low-coverage tinted moisturizer in the summer months is the perfect way to let your skin’s natural radiance shine through, while still removing any discoloration and evening up your skin tone. Then it’s a case of contouring, if you’re a fan, popping some blush on the apples of your cheeks and bronzing the high points of your face, and then it’s onto the highlight. Highlighting is a great way to add a natural glow to your face, particularly if you’re not naturally that glowy. Go for as much or as little as you need, but remember to buff it into your skin well to avoid that stripe along your cheekbone. A translucent powder in your purse is all you need to ensure the oily shine that we sometimes get in summer stays away all day. Et voila, the perfect, summery, dewy skin.

Out-there lippy

Just like with glitter lips, this summer is the perfect time to try out all the crazy lippy shades you’ve been too nervous to try until now. Are you a fan of the chocolate browns? It might not, initially, strike you as a summer shade, but with a neutral or khaki eye and a beautifully dewy face, it can be a great statement look. This summer, though, it’s all about the oranges. Orange is a shade which, perhaps surprisingly, will work with any skin tone, as long as you choose the right variation. It works beautifully with understated eyes and fresh skin for a flirty daytime look. But it can even be worn right into the evening with a slightly heavier, smudgy eye look. It’s a fantastically versatile color, and it’s fun and lively too.

If you’re slightly nervous about your first foray into the orange lipstick, consider starting with a coral shade. The coral colors are a great compromise between orange and pink, and massively wearable on a day to day basis, for people of any skin tone. Once you’re used to seeing yourself in such a bright color, give the orange a go - you might surprise yourself. Just be sure to prep your lips properly beforehand. Always keep them moisturized with a lip balm containing an SPF, as even lips can get sunburnt when it’s hot. Before you put your lippy on, give them a quick scrub with a soft, clean, dry toothbrush to take off any dry skin, and your lippy will go on smoother and stay on longer.

This year’s beauty looks are extremely exciting. From celebrating natural hair and natural skin, to making fun statements with your makeup using color and glitter, it’s certainly a year for experimenting. Which is the key to all of this - this year, the beauty theme for summer is fun and experimentation, so be sure to make the most of it.

Give Your Face A Glow (Without Make-up)

Want your face to look more radiant? It’s possible to give yourself a glow without having to reach for the cosmetics. Here are just a few ways that you can brighten up your appearance.

Exfoliate your skin

Dry skin will give you a more dulled and tired look. Take the time every day to moisturize your face to keep it looking smooth and glossy. Not only will it make you look fresher, but it will also prevent aging to your skin, fighting off those wrinkles. Washing your face regularly with a good cleanser can also prevent spots and blackheads from appearing. For those that are more susceptible to zits, try using natural products such as tea tree and witch hazel to clear out those pores.

Eat the right foods

Various foods can be very healthy for your skin. Many Mediterranean foods such as olive oil, tomatoes and fish are great for fighting sun damage and providing enriching anti-oxidants into your skin, keeping those cheeks rosy. Cutting out the carbs can also lower levels of cortisol – a stress hormone that can make skin more tired and spotty. Such carb heavy foods include white bread, pasta and refined sugar. Drinking lots of water will also keep your skin hydrated and smooth.

Get your beauty sleep

No-one wants black circles around their eyes. Too little sleep will not just give you bags though – it can increase sensitivity to skin allergies, speed up aging and take away collagen from the skin – the chemical that is essential for giving it that glow. If you want to keep your skin healthy, make sure that you’re getting enough sleep each night and power nap when this isn’t an option.

Bring a shine to your smile

Pearly white teeth will immediately give your face a glow. There are many ways to whiten those. Brushing more regularly and more vigorously is the obvious answer. Finding the best toothpaste for whitening may help to speed up the process. You should also try to limit foods that may be staining your teeth such as coffee, tea and red wine, as well as limiting your sugar intake (particularly fizzy drinks). Smoking is also bad for your smile – the tar will increase the rate of yellowing. Brush more often, chew gum and use whitening products to counter the effects of these tooth staining culprits.

Give your hair a sheen

natural-hair-straightened.jpg

Shiny hair can also help frame your face better and bring out the glow in your cheeks. There are various products and serums that you can use to add shine to your hair. If you’re using these, make sure that you’re not washing those locks too regularly. Over-washing gets rid of natural oils which stop your scalp from drying out, causing dull and brittle hair. How you dry your hair can also affect its natural sheen. Don’t always reach for the hairdryer as this could be damaging your hair. Try using a microfiber towel or t-shirt and dab gently. By far the healthiest way to dry your hair is to let it air dry naturally – something you may not be able to do on weekday mornings before work, but could be worth trying out over the weekend when you don’t have anywhere to be.

Do you ever wake in the morning only to find that nothing looks right in the mirror? Your hair is dull and lifeless, you’ve got dark circles under your eyes, and your skin is starting to breakout? Me too, but unlike a lot of girls, I don’t panic because I know that no matter what the problem, I can always turn things around and start looking like my most beautiful self again.

If that sounds good to you, here are some simple things you can do:

Treat Your Skin with Extra Care

No matter what else goes wrong, if your skin is looking smooth, flawless and radiant, you will look great. That’s why you should take extra time to ensure your skin is taken care of.

If your skin often looks bad when you wake up, it could be that you’re using the wrong products for your skin type. To determine whether that’s the case, work out what your skin type is and switch up your products to match, Then, make sure to cleanse, tone and moisturize daily. This will help prevent you from having bad skin days.

Stay Hydrated

If you wake up with dry, dull skin or bags under the eyes, it could be that you are not getting enough water during the day. By drinking lots of water, you can make your skin appear plumper, curb your appetite to control your weight better and ensure that your eyes are clear, bright and beautiful.

Workout Your Undertone

If you want your hair, makeup and even your clothes to look good and make your skin truly sparkle, then you need to work out what undertone your skin is. If your veins appear to be green, and your hair is naturally red, black, brown or strawberry blonde, chances are your undertone is warm, and colors like gold, orange, red and leafy green will suit you best.

If, however, your veins are blue, your eyes are gray, green or blue and your hair is blonde, black or brown with gold tones, your skin has cool undertones, and dressing in silver, violet, emerald and other jewel tones will bring out your natural beauty best.

Deal with Major Flaws

Look, I think that we should all embrace those little flaws we have, whether they be scars, excess weight or a nose that we hate. After all, it’s the little flaws that make us stand out and give us personality. However, I know that some of you will never feel your most beautiful while these flaws are present, so if you need to, don’t be afraid to invest in camouflage makeup to cover scars OR (IF THIS HAPPENS TO BE YOU), you can find a great plastic surgeon to help you in achieving whatever goals you may have.

Protect Your Hair at Night

If you want to wake up every morning knowing that your hair will look perfect, sleeping in curlers, rollers, braids or even a hair net will help. Sure, you might look like your grandma when you slip under the covers, but you’ll wake up with that l hair LAID girl!

How do you stay beautiful?

Top Tips for Making Your Skin Look Sublime!

Many of us would give anything to unlock the secrets of perfect looking skin. Of course, genetics may always play a part. If your parents had flawless skin, chances are you’ll be lucky enough to inherit good skin too. But there are so many other factors to consider. Those pesky hormones frequently cause peculiar effects on our faces each month and pregnancy doesn’t make every woman glow beautifully! Still, there are some other ways to overcome what life throws at our skin.

Eating Habits

What we eat, or don’t eat, can have an enormous effect on the quality of our skin. The skin cells all over our body need nourishment as much as any other body part. We also store fat around our faces. It’s rarely as noticeable as other areas of the body because the extra contouring and shape are aesthetically pleasing. Very thin faces can look chiseled but may appear gaunt instead.

Vegetables and fruits contain almost all the nutrients we need for healthy looking skin. However, calcium from dairy products can help keep teeth and jaws strong. These can affect the shape of the face. Nuts and seeds also contain essential minerals to help keep skin looking and feeling good. Finally, we need to hydrate the skin. Drinking plenty of water can help achieve this from the inside.

Skin Care Routine

A really good skin care routine will help keep the skin healthy and fresh looking. It’s essential to cleanse all the makeup off the skin each night and use a toner to refine the pores. There are many excellent cleansers available at the moment. It’s important that you use products that are right for your skin type and age. Of course, we can suffer from problem skin at any age, but as we get older those pesky fine lines can start to become more pronounced.

Spa treatments such as microdermabrasion have become easier to use in the comfort of your own home. If you buy the equipment, you could be saving yourself a lot of money as it will save you heading to the cosmetic clinic. If you are wondering how often should you microdermabrasion at home, the answer may depend on your skin condition. You can check online for reviews of different machines to find which one is most suitable for you.

High-end skincare products can be expensive mistakes at times. Trying them out by ordering samples first can be the best way to determine if a product is right for you. You may be thinking that the higher price tag guarantees results, but everybody is different. Until you’ve tried it, you can’t be sure it’s the best solution for your skin. Cosmetics aren’t always as easy to sample. However, booking an appointment at your department store cosmetics counter will give you an idea!

Gorgeous feeling and gorgeous looking skin don't actually come that easily to most of us. We have to work hard to get the balance right and do what’s right for the health of our skin. There will always be new products to try that could be just the thing for you.
